Standing 85m high above junction 11 of the M4 motorway, the Green Park turbine is the most visible turbine in our MWP scheme.
Built in conjunction with Prudential, this turbine is an impressive green icon for the local area as it is seen by more than 100,000 people a day, making it one of Europe's most visible turbines.
This windmill also fulfills all the power requirements for the business park and for some of the homes in the surrounding area.
The windmill is sited within the innovative Green Park Business Park, providing a fabulous backdrop for the state of the art turbine. Fine modern architecture lies within a sympathetically conserved natural setting where plant and wildlife species flourish.
The turbine also generates around 3.5 million kWh of renewable electricity every year, enough to power 2% of Wokingham District's domestic electricity requirements.
Green Park is the first business park in the country with a wind turbine on this scale. This is a great example of PruPIM supporting the current debate on sustainability and putting it into practice. It puts Green Park - and Reading – at the forefront of contemporary thinking.
