Ecotricity have just completed construction of the company's latest Industrial wind turbine - situated at B&Q’s Distribution Centre near Worksop. It's the first large scale wind turbine in the whole of Nottinghamshire.
One of the largest wind turbines in the UK, when the blades start turning in early January it will generate the majority of the energy that B&Q uses on the site - cleanly and quietly.
Dale Vince, Ecotricity founder and managing director said:
“We’re chuffed to get this turbine up just before Christmas. Each year for the next 30 years it'll save over 5,000 tonnes of CO2 from being emitted - in it's lifetime that’s over 150,000 tonnes of CO2. A very worthwhile contribution to the fight against Climate Change.”
David Childs – Director of B&Q Properties Limited commented:
“We are delighted to see the new turbine up as we go into the New Year. It will make a major contribution to our electricity needs on site and will also inform renewable energy initiatives that B&Q is promoting elsewhere in its UK estate.
The support of our neighbours and local authorities in Worksop has been invaluable in bringing the project forward and I would like to express our appreciation to them”.
